There are two different parts to our Website:
1. MAIN MENU
In the top centre is the main menu of Fundación Euskara Kultur Elkargoa, comprising 7 regularly-updated, informative sections: The Foundation, Activities, Artekaria, Contact, Links, Forums and Dictionary.

2. SAREA
Our Sarea project, which began in 2004, is now the most evolved online database for Basque-language related news.
It is constantly updated and has plenty of useful ways to help you find what you are looking for.
Before starting this user guide, please open Sarea using the link in the top right-hand corner.

A. ENTER
The access panel to the database is at the top on the right. This panel has 3 main links:

A. 1. Register. New users can register from this window by filling in a simple form. They can then make use of the many advantages and functions enjoyed by registered users.

Find out more about the advantages of being a registered user here.
A. 2. Latest news. From this link, you can access the latest news added to our database.
A. 3. Enter. Registered users can enter the news database with their chosen preferences here.

If you do not select a date, the search engine searches all of the news added in the current year. To see the results for another year, simply indicate as such on the dropdown menu displayed on the search results.

B. SEARCHING
The Sarea database search engine is just below the main menu of Asociación Euskara Kultur Elkargoa. Using the search engine from any of the sections on the main menu also gives automatic access to our database. To make searching easier, when a word or key phrase is entered, the engine searches the news of the current year by default. It is also possible, however, to search for news published in a specific period by selecting from a calendar.
Finally, you can also limit the results by setting the type of search you wish to perform.

Por último, si lo desea, puede limitar los resultados, ajustando el tipo de búsqueda que quiere realizar.

C. BROWSING
Look at the vertical Sarea database menu on the left. It consists of:
C. 1. Sections
At the top, there is a menu with all of the sections and subsections of our news database. To see these, simply move your mouse over the 4 main categories.

If you access a news item, you will observe the following information at the top on the left: “News title”, “Category”, “Date”, “Publication” and “Language”:

“News options” is at the top on the right.

See comments. To see other users’ comments about the news you are looking at.
Comment. You can send your own comments about the news.
Recommend this news item. You can recommend this news item to whoever you want from here. To do this, it is necessary to fill in a couple of easy fields: the e-mail address of the person chosen and his/her name.
Would you like to translate this news item? Although you are browsing in a set language, the news may appear in another language. This is because the news items always appear in the original language they were published in and not all of them are translated. From here, you can send us a translation of the news item to any of the 3 site languages (Basque, Spanish or English) and contribute towards making our project a better service for everybody.
See PDF. You can see a PDF version of the news item here to print it out, save it, etc.
Print news item. Shortcut to print the news item being displayed.
C. 2. Send your news
The “Send your news” banner is beneath the Sarea menu. This banner is linked to our e-mail so that you can send us news which you think is missing and may be of interest. We will add these items to the database so that everybody can see them.

C. 3. The Teaching of the Basque language in Navarra
The “Teaching of Basque in Navarra” banner is on the left. This links you to a complete list of schools and places where Basque is taught.

C. 4. Most visited news
Finally, on the left, there is a window with the headlines of the 10 news items most visited by all of the users entering the Site. You can access the item by clicking on the headlines.

There are 4 shortcuts, represented by icons beneath the “Most visited news” list:
